Therapy & Wellness App
Goals
To create a tool that allows patients easy access to a library of therapy stretches on demand. My client is a practicing therapist and wanted to find a way to assist patients with stretching home work and provide a place for them to record experiences and reflections. Also, provide accountability and reminders to help create habits for patients to get more out of their therapy program as a whole. Lastly, to help patients properly execute stretches and practice confidently at home with a step by step audio guidance like they would have in session.
Psychomotor therapy is a therapeutic approach that places importance on what we experience in the mind and the body as well as the connection between the two.
UI App Design Layout
Users
This app is currently focused on serving clients of psychomotor practitioners, and therapists. It has the potential with more iterations and feature additions to be a useful tool for anyone looking for self regulating somatic exercises.
Features
// Push notification alerts + reminders
// Suggested stretches based on current feelings
// Search any of the stretches and have guided audio walk through
// Keep track of progress and larger program goals
Research
There was little time or resources for UX research with this project but I did start off with card sorting (structuring and organizing features of app) and information architecture considerations including a sitemap. I took into account mental models (user expectations) and conducted competitor analysis to get an idea of what the users would expect from an app like this and what sequencing fit well with expected behaviors. If we had a larger budget for testing I would also conduct usability testing, user interviews and create personas to work from.
Prototyping
I utilized components and variants both in design process and prototyping to simplify any further edits to the app structure or interface.
